I currently have an ikea karlby, but I want a more premium feeling and looking desk. Would it be worth $200-$250 to get a large butcher block rather than just keeping the karlby?

I don’t think so honestly. The Karlby tops are actually pretty thick veneer and shockingly durable. So unless you need something that you can’t do with the Karlby, I’d just stick with it.
Eh, if it’s that important to you then sure. This looks fine though. I wouldn’t personally spend the money when I have something that works well already
Why ask us? Looks like your desk is holding things up. So functionally there is no difference. Seems like it comes down to if you want to spend your money on it or not.
