I’ve been thinking about getting Cold War on PC, and I was hoping someone could answer some of my questions.
How is the player base? E.g. can I queue up for any game mode? If not, which game modes can you find players for?
Are there many cheaters?
Does it matter if I buy it on steam or via [battle.net](https://battle.net)?
How do the “seasons” work regarding the DLC maps?
Anything else I should know? I haven’t really played any COD multiplayer since BO2 but this game seems quite similar to me so I think I want to give it a shot.

It’s cross play, You get to play with everyone. There is no difference between Steam and BNET. You get all the maps, Only thing you cannot get is the stuff from the battlepass of each season.
Decent sized player base (depending on your region obviously) also crossplay so you’ll play with whoever is online. Not sure about any gamemode, there was a few bugs where a few playlists would randomly NOT assign you to your region, I’ve found that 12v12 would reliably give low ping (less than 50ms).
I’ve rarely found cheaters after MWII release, and during the life cycle of it I’ve seen only a handful.
For Steam or Bnet, I’d say get it on whatever you want, just remember that Steam always go down on Tuesday for maintenance so it can be an inconvenience being booted from the game because they don’t know how to make a system that can be maintained without weekly maintenance.
As for the Seasons, it doesn’t matter anymore, when you launch the game you’ll have all DLC maps, for free, only guns will be locked behind challenges. Seasons where when the content dropped when the CW was the CoD of the year, just like MWII is now and soon to be MWIII, each season would have a few new MP maps and weapons, all for free.
You might be a bit confused at first with the different Prestige system implemented, now it is a continuous level, no need to reset, so every 50 levels (after reaching level 50 to unlock all perks/weapons) you gain a prestige key and can unlock a few different things like calling cards, emblems from older CoDs or new for the game. Also this level is shared between MW 2019, CW and Vanguard.
