I’m just curious on how people reacted to this random mode that came out of nowhere. Was it late at night? We’re you with some friends, how did they react? Was it terrifying and you immediately turned off the game and piss your pants? Tell me your story I’m genuinely curious.

A mix of not knowing what the game mode was and sheer terror for me and my mates, we were only 13 at the time
When the cinematic first started playing, I thought it might be setting up a plot thread for the next Treyarch game. As it finished, it gave me that sinking feeling of dread in your stomach. Yes, compared to what came afterwards Nacht is basic, but the atmosphere and environment is still very haunting. Very appropriate for World at War since that same feeling was felt throughout the campaign. T
I have a lot fond memories from this era of CoD, specifically from WaW and BO1. My IRL friends and I spent a lot of time playing both zombies and multiplayer. I was nearly max prestige in WaW before a hacker gave it and a rainbow name to me. I remember grinding out the M1 Garand’s sniper scope attachment in multiplayer which I always remember being very rare. Modified popular strats at the time for each WaW map and Kino and Five to fit our group.
Picked up BO3’s Zombie Chronicles + The Giant recently since I fell off CoD right around its release. It’s like walking down a zombie-infested memory lane. While I’m now just casually playing these maps by myself these days since no one else has picked it up, it’s still very fun.
Sorry, for the nostalgic rambling, but this post brought me back. CoD Zombies really helped start my love with the zombie genre alongside L4D.
My mind was blown and I was honestly unnerved despite not being quite so young (14 at the time). My first game lasted 3 rounds and I shut off my PS3, still a bit shaken by what had happened. It’s still the best surprise I’ve ever seen in a game.
