I think it’s nothing more than clickbait.
This is massive copium, if not straight up desperation to hold on to what’s left of Lex’s audience. Regular people would’ve moved on and maybe tried doing something else with their careers.
BOIII got shut down because its creators were trying to profit from it, that’s all it is. You don’t try to make money off of an existing IP, because that’s just asking for trouble.
