Yes, wtf what are your audio settings.

    Wait, you’re NOT running Dolby?

Ok, so you use Home Theather (tried that as well, even Cinema, it does something but shooting your own gun is loud af).

External PCIe w/DAC. Any specific settings anywhere? EQ? Effects of the soundcard?

Myself Im running Creative AE-9, Dolby, on Direct Mode (so no processing), tried both headphones, home theater, and cinema, but really it doesn’t seem to matter the fuck I try, the total experience is just bad.

Got to be honest, running Corsair Virtuoso SE, not really audiophile stuff but as far as I can tell it certainly isn’t a bad set.

I’ve always heard steps very clearly like this but never really think about it much.

I once saw some post about sound becoming distorted the higher the level is in game vs system sound. You’d have to test it again to get recent information but if you have an amp and use that to get more sound while keeping the in-game settings low it may result in clearer audio.

That *might* be a reason why some people can hear things better than others but I won’t claim to know that for sure.
