Origins has one of the best atmospheres and a great Easter Egg ending. This is one of the only few maps where I would rate a 10/10.

  1. This is a very controversial and unique opinion that I’m sure very few people share

I disagree completely about the atmosphere and visuals.

It fits what is was trying to do. Obviously an area on the trench line that has been in the thick of war will be gloomy, dark, muddy…etc. but I don’t think being realistic makes it a good atmosphere. It’s visually one of the most boring maps with a completely generic setting. Brown and gray, with more brown and gray, and some brown and gray over there, and some nice brown and gray accents over here.

And I’m sure this is unpopular around here, but the staffs are way too powerful and make the game boring as hell if you are a decent player. Completely ruined pubs. All players wanted to do was get their staff by round 6 and train for 4 hours. Not fun imo. I had a ton more fun playing other maps with randoms.

My only personal gripes are the templars shutting the generators down, along with having to carry the gramophone to initiate the elemental portals. The weather changing dynamic affecting the gameplay is such a unique characteristic, and gives Origins distinct personality. Regardless of the excellent atmosphere, Origins has a steep learning curve pertaining to the main Easter Egg.

Firstly, you have to be methodical to make the setup process easier. Carefully obtaining the G-strikes from cleansing the tablet, without stepping on the mud can be tricky in some instances for casuals. Keep in mind optimizing your run getting the staffs upgraded quickly as possible is a crucial aspect. Thunder fists can be problematic, especially if aren’t prepared in advance. My overall final rating would be around 8/10 indisputably the intro cutscene is a banger, being the perfect introduction to Primis. Unquestionably I think Origins was such a massive generational leap for the mode shifting to zombies 2.0 dawning of a new era.
