Activision’s monthly active player count decreased from 111 million during Q4 2022 to 98 million during Q1 2023.

13 million quit warzone 2 or does this count for multiplayer too

So, that basically means we’re back to wz1’s “boring, stale” (it really wasn’t) end game numbers while wz2 has been out for only 6 months WITH an extra category being DMZ and it’s at the same player count, wow. What a disappointing game…

  3. cordell507

Q4 numbers will always be high compared to the rest of the year in this industry.

Microsofts deal was just killed by the EU as well. From all accounts, the deal is DOA and they will not be buying Activision.

Whats that mean? IMO, probably a lot of lay offs and pissed off employees and a mad rush to appease stock holders that got hammered today.

  5. CommonSatyr

Clearly dead game. Player drop after release, crazy.

  6. lochnespmonster

This tweet is misleading. OF COURSE it decreased. They released a brand new AAA title in Q4. Their player count is going to spike, and then drop, no matter what they release. It has nothing to do with the WZ2 whiners

The real story is that the player count drop returned right back to where it was for the previous 3 quarters.

Activision is More than Warzone. Just to check out battlenet. Those million of players could just quit Warzone, they could also just quit other games. Nobody knows based on this fact.

  8. TechnicalEnergy5858

They’re not sharing Call of Duty only data.. That would show even a worst scenario imo

  9. PredictabilityIsGood

something tells me this data was the best they could show. Monthly active players could literally be one person playing one game when the new season dropped and then quitting again because it sucked.

  10. jkoki088

That’s still a lot of fucking people playing

  11. Ellite25

This is Activision numbers, not just WZ2, at least from what I can tell. This doesn’t mean 98 million people are playing WZ2.

  12. TheEternalGazed

Wasn’t there a report last year saying Activision lose 100 million players? This doesn’t seem that bad.

  13. BecauseBatman01

    Hey that’s me 😌
Once I realized it wasn’t fun and was mostly angry or mad it was easy to uninstall. Looking forward to other games coming out.

  14. FOILBLADE

That’s a tiny drop. Literally tiny. Q4 was launch, those numbers are going to the high point of the year. That drop isnt even a dent, that’s actually pretty damn good numbers considering Q4 was launch

  15. BobbyLite45

If you compare with other launches, that percentage drop is excellent

  16. I had 67 wz1 people in my friends list , now I see maximum 10 playing wz2 ..Yes .

  17. ChicagosOwn1988

    No shit.

There’s never been a COD that didn’t see a step falloff after launch.

Can people stop pretending the player count is a issue? It’s not.

  18. KodaksMoment

That’s all? No wonder game developers are cool with dropping half done bullshit. Fucking people going to pay for it anyways.

  20. MrSmiley3

Went from playing every day a few hours to a few hours once a week

  21. MutagensRS

It’s a shame the game is still this popular. We aren’t getting a good and polished cod game ever again with the amount of money and players they get

  22. Significant-Speech52

You mean the game did not keep its population as high as during launch? What’s your point?

  23. TheRealRonMexico7

    “Steam Charts dont mean anything”

“Theres always a drop off after the release”

Have the guys that say this shown up yet?

  24. Few-Needleworker-145

Comparing to March 2022, already lower active players than Warzone 1 at the end of its life cycle, vs Warzone 2 still in its honeymoon period. And active players are counted twice, once for multiplayer and once for Warzone. In March 2022, no one was playing vanguard any more. Not looking good for Warzone 2, I would expect significant dropoff in the summer unless ranked is very well executed.

Monthly users is a really bad metic to be using if you want to accurately see how healthy a player base is, which is likely why they are using it.

First of all it is over all their cod games, probably including cod mobile in there too.

Secondly if someone used to play daily for a few hours but now dislikes the game and only plays a couple of hours a month with friends they are perceived as having no change.

Average playtime over the month would need to be included here for the data to be meaningful.

  26. Xtoxiczombie

On Xbox looking for group for warzone they might have at most 700 people maybe 1000. Apex I have never seen under like 30k people looking for someone to play with at any given time.

  27. kj_gamer2614

That’s not at all concerning. That’s still an insane amount of players.

  28. That’s a shit load of players.
Obviously it’s not all wz2, but still impressive.

  29. ARancidFart

Honestly i loved wz1 when i was out of school and work and had days to just spend gaming and i could learn more and constantly improve. Now that im working full time and going to school and dont have much time i really love this game more because i dont need to learn all those meta strats. Ik the hardcore players out here hate it but in my eyes this was a great change for the next iteration of warzone

  30. RelationshipEast3886

B-b-but Charlie Intel and S-s-Steam charts said the game lost like 99% of the player base ac-c-cross all p-p-platforms! The game is d-d-dying..

  31. stealth941

Come on now if people stopped complaining so much broaden your horizon with other games and drop that count further they’ll understand…. I think
