Counter Strike is a tactical first-person shooter video game which originated from a modification of the game Half-Life. Counter Strike (CS) was initially released in 1999, and has since become one of the most popular online games.
The objective of CS is simple: two teams, terrorists and counter-terrorists, go head to head in a battle to the death. The terrorists’ objective is to plant a bomb at one of two bomb sites, and the counter-terrorists’ objective is to either prevent the bomb from being planted, or to defuse it once it has been planted.
CS is generally played as an online multiplayer game, but can also be played offline against computer-controlled bots.
The popularity of CS is due to its simple yet addictive gameplay, as well as its Active Duty cycle. Active Duty cycles are when new updates and maps are released for the game, and usually last for around six months. This keeps the game feeling fresh, as well as giving players something to look forward to.
CS is not without its faults, however. One of the biggest complaints is that the game is overly reliant on aim, and that there is very little room for mistake. This makes the game difficult for newer players to get into, as they can quickly get frustrated.
Despite its flaws, CS is still one of the most popular games around, and is well worth checking out if you’ve never played it before.
