My understanding from research is that this spec is top-notch for gaming. Am I correct?

Hello derec85, and thank you for your submission to Gaming PC! If you are new please check out our rules over at the wiki [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/gamingpc/wiki/rules)!
We have recently added the useful feature of Title Flair! You can set this manually by clicking Flair under your post once you have submitted your post, but if you missed it in the rules there is a much better way that will automatically flair your post!

To do this simply add what your post is about in brackets before your title. For example for a Build Log you can type [Build Log] before your post so that it looks like this; [Build Log]My new awesome build!, and the bot will automatically set your flair to Build Log! This works for Build Log, Build Showcase, News, Hardware News, Hardware Release, Discussion, and Miscellaneous!

Also remember that this is a place for discussing and sharing our love of Gaming Computers! This is NOT the place for help building or determining what parts you should buy, that is better suited for /r/buildapc. Troubleshooting questions should be directed to /r/techsupport. Thank you again!

Your research is wrong. top notch would be 4090ti

  3. Rowan_Bird

Not *top notch* but you’re really fucking close

  4. BillMcCrearysStache

4090 is the king but the average person doesnt really need anything that beefy

  5. Itzamedave

Mid tier budget build that will be fine for 1440 gaming or 4k medium

  6. PaoloMix09

“Top notch” people would consider 4080-4090, but really not many can afford that. 4070ti is really freaking close, that’s the card im aiming for next, pretty much will be doubling up in power from my 3070. Are you getting this? Or thinking about it?

  7. SOAPLOBSTER

It’s a very capable and up to date build. Great specs. Enjoy!

  8. flitclicker_

Definitely top-notch, you could upgrade the GPU a bit but I’d deem that unnecessary

  9. TheEarthIsFlatttt

Yes, this is top notch. Is it the absolute best of the best. No that would have required them to spend another roughly 1500 dollars. But it’s damn good.

  10. iliketoeatfunyuns

Is there a benefit to having windows 11 over 10 when it comes to gaming?

  11. CobblerOdd2876

Yeah wouldn’t say “top notch” but you could play anything, essentially maxed out, and be at a light jog. If the perspective helps, my 6900xt and ryzen 3800x are pushing just about anything at 1440p 165hz at 100fps+ or so, and those specs you have there would be better imo.

  12. StrawPaprika873

Don’t take me that seriously but I think 32 GB ram is overdoing it, 16 would do just fine in most games (?

  13. Alpine_Sweat

That’s a great build that will stay fast for a long time. I’d recommend going for a 2 TB 980 Pro, 1 terabyte fills up surprisingly fast these days and if you’re already going with high end components, might as well spend a bit extra for more storage.

  14. New-Computer5719

I think it’s a great build . You’ll be solid for quite sometime.
Maybe consider another Nvme , or run your OS on an SSD and install all your games on the Nvme .
    Otherwise solid . Have fun

Edit. Diablo IV taking 20gigs ram .. on open Beta on my rig, I think you’re solid .

  15. SignificanceOk1725

It’s a great bang for buck higher end build except for one thing. The ram. I’d go for a 6000cl36 ram kit. The performance boost between 5200 and 6000mhz ram kit will be very worth it for not that much more money. Unless your getting a deal with the 5200mhz kit it’s 100% worth the extra money.

  16. hardtimefor1

Oh. My. God. Don’t buy this. The 5200Mhz RAM will actually KILL the performance of your CPU. Like very very badly. If you’re assembling yourself, 6000 is best for both AMD and Intel. If you HAVE to use 5200, get a configuration with an Intel CPU as their performance loss/gain is not that big with varying ram speed

  17. Dramatic-Let5006

Any comment saying if this is good, it has a 1000gb ssd…

The wifi, is a must though, literally cut the hard line, as it will eventually make you lag and drop frames, late match.

  18. indkyjtsxucivoxuggg

It’s high end sure but I wouldn’t say it’s top notch. There’s about 3 graphics cards more powerful than the 4070ti (the 7900xtx, 4080 and 4090)

  19. NekulturneHovado

I’d personally recommend you to yeet that 4070 out of the window and get some AMD. 4070 is 900usd iirc. Same price Amd has 7800XT or something which is way faster. (And no, AMD doesn’t have driver issues anymore. They already fixed it. It’s perfectly usable at this point.) But if you want, stick with 4070. It’s not bad. It’s just overpriced. So it’s up to you

  20. daq42_pews

Its not top, top but its like good High-mid tier

  21. Magdatdan

    6000 ram, wait for 7800X3D.

    Laugh in FPS afterwards

  22. Jordan Peterson: it depends on what you mean by gaming? because when you look into the fundamental realities of the word “gaming” nothing makes sense.

  23. NickiChaos

To be honest, I see two parts that you can drop down a tier on to save money where you won’t lose any real-world/noticeable performance.

For your CPU, you would save some money by going with a Ryzen 5 7600X. You really won’t need anything beyond that unless you’re going to end up doing some CPU intensive tasks.

You can also save money on your NVMe by going with a WD SN770 or finding an SN850X on sale. Also, from what I hear, Samsung likes to place blame on the customer when it comes to failed hard drives and wriggle their way out of honouring the warranties any way they can. Western Digital has a much better reputation as they’ll just replace a dead drive with no questions asked (sometimes outside of the warranty period too).

Replacing the Ryzen 7 7700X with the Ryzen 5 7600X and going with an SN770 over the 980 pro will yield a better budgeted computer with no noticeable performance loss in real world applications. Will you see less scores in benchmarks? Sure, but benchmarks are synthetic loads that don’t necessarily reflect how the computers performance feels when the user is actually using it.

    Just my recommendations….

  24. Barack_Bob_Oganja

Kinda unrelated but did not want to start a different topic.

Is it better ti get 1 2tb nvme or 2 1tb nvme’s or does it not matter

  25. StarAhrii

If you’re just doing gaming and nothing else. You would get more fps out of a 5800x3D cpu on a last gen AM4 motherboard due to the 3D v-Cache that it has. But if you want to do more then just gaming this is the better option.
