Dude, the 5D concept/spirit of zombies has many 3D realities, even series not associated with call of duty are canon a part of the aether.
The aether itself is pure energy, energy doesn’t give a crap what container holds it. Even in this reality we have the aether, it surrounds us as much as it does the corrupted realities that have zombies.

Technically speaking, they can do whatever they want. They could make a map taking place in whatever timeline they want, as long as it’s before the Dark Aether crapshoot it can be Victis or Chaos or whoever. They just… Haven’t done that, for some reason. I’m not really sure why. They were perfectly willing to dip back in BO4 and make a new world entirely in the middle and again at the end of BO2.
