Call me crazy but the game does it on purpose somehow little quirks like that end up causing you a death where if the UI worked the way it was supposed to you would have got what you needed and got out of the way but it denied you that because it intended on you dying.

I’ll be honest I was looking at the items in the bag and still saw the truck with my peripherals before it showed up on the mini map. You just need keep a consistent lookout when playing, nothing to do with the loot system.
