Several Walmart stores have reported significant price reductions on physical boxed copies of Electronic Arts’ military first-person shooter Battlefield 6. According to customer reports, the price of new sealed disc versions for current-generation consoles at select Walmart stores has dropped to a record low of $12,50. Given the standard suggested retail price of $69,99 for the massive title, the actual discount on physical copies during the local warehouse sale exceeded 82%.
This steep price reduction is due to a planned reorganization and reduction of physical video game displays at several retail locations, as the retailer seeks to free up warehouse space from excess boxed product inventory. The offer is further enhanced by the ability to link discs to the platform holder’s digital ecosystem: by purchasing a physical copy for the console for $12,50, users can activate the license on their account. The promotional price is specific and may vary significantly depending on the specific regional branch of the retail chain.
DICE’s massive military shooter Battlefield 6 offers players large-scale combined arms battles featuring armored vehicles and aircraft, powered by the latest iteration of the Frostbite graphics engine and featuring a deep physics-based destruction model. This level of discount makes the boxed edition extremely attractive to collectors and fans of traditional optical discs. Walmart traditionally doesn’t centrally announce local clearance promotions, meaning the availability of discs at bargain prices depends on individual warehouse stock levels.
