Portal: Alive & Kicking has officially arrived on Steam, giving the classic Valve game Portal a bit of a makeover. You need to own Portal 2, and have it installed in the same Steam library folder for it to work.
From the Steam page – “Portal: Alive & Kicking is a full remake and re-imagining of Valve’s Portal. Utilizing the power of Portal 2 and its engine, Alive & Kicking slips you back into the cold test chambers of Aperture Science to retell the original story of Chell and GLaDOS – updated to compensate and complete the vast retcons and aesthetic additions of the sequel.”
Currently, they seem to be having some store issues where the add / play button doesn’t appear. You can hit the launch button on SteamDB to easily get around it. For Linux users, you’ll need Proton, as there’s currently no Native build of it and it seems to run well with Proton 11.

The release was actually ready a while ago, the developer posted on Bluesky that they had signed an agreement with Valve but hadn’t heard from them for months. Nice to see it finally out.
