Hi all. Before you run out and try. They fixed it pretty much right after my order went through.

TLDR: Newegg combo configurator gave one particular Corsair DDR5 kit ($557) a combo savings of nearly $800 when bundled with a cpu and motherboard. Essentially giving me the kit for free and then some credit towards the other components. I paid $87 for a 7600x, B850M motherboard, and 32gb of Corsair DDR5 6000mhz. 7600x also came with a free Cooler Master AIO, an $85 value.

I’ve been wanting to build a new gaming rig for a while. I sold my desktop last year and wanted to jump back into water cooling and upgrade to the AM5 platform. But, I kept putting it off due to other life and financial responsibilities. Obviously, in hindsight now I probably wouldn’t have sold my desktop last year. Damn this AI nonsense!

Last week I decided to shop used to just get something to get by. I was using Newegg and Amazon to cross reference prices and bundles. So I opened Neweggs combo configurator and added a 7600x and a B850M motherboard into it. They were priced correctly and had a modest savings of $20 and $30 respectively when added to the combo. I don’t remember the exact number but it was around this much. I then go and look at the ram to see how that affects my pricing and I noticed one Corsair kit that said it would have a savings of nearly $800 dollars when combo’d. I believe $791 to be exact. The price for the kit was $557. I don’t believe what I’m seeing so I add it to the combo thinking it’s a glitch or something. And sure enough my subtotal was $87 for all 3 components and the free AIO that comes with the cpu. At this point I’m still skeptical about this and just add all the items to my cart to see if the price follows to the checkout page, and it did! Next, I’m checking out super quick thinking it’ll all disappear or get corrected.

The next few minutes or so I’m sitting there on the edge of my seat refreshing the order status page to see if Newegg will cancel it. I see my order go from accepted to pending. I remain on edge. Then I see it go to packaging and I’m super excited at this point. Thinking that there’s no way this is going through, I still think they’ll cancel. The opportunist in me was wondering why I didn’t try this with a better cpu like a 9800x3D. But I didn’t want to screw up what I was seeing so I left my order like that. I go back to the configurator and try the same thing, and just like that the combo savings for the same ram kit was edited down to $100. The way I’m describing this seems like a long time passed but it’s like 10 mins between the time my order got submitted to the time I check the configurator again.

Eventually I did get a tracking number for my order but I remained skeptical, but excited to see if it’ll all come. I was joking with my wife that I’ll probably get a box of rocks. Well it did all come and it’s not a box of rocks. I’m super excited to be back to desktop form. I know Newegg has been getting a bad rap these days but I gotta give it up to them. They could’ve canceled and used their ToS to back out, but they honored the sale. I suspect if I tried to take advantage of the situation and submitted multiple orders or changed the cpu to something more expensive, everything would be canceled and I’d get nothing. So yeah, I’ll take the small fortunate win here. Thanks Newegg!
