Computer started acting up yesterday, I thought it was one of the vibe coded Nvidia drivers. So I rolled it back. Problem got worse, so I turned off the PC and inspected the 5090.
I was using the official MSI adapter, and saw the entire bottom row of pins are burned. Inside the connector on the card end had signs of melting…
Without a shadow of a doubt, this connector was properly seated. I made SURE when I installed it that it was in AS FAR AS POSSIBLE. It had been an entire year since I installed this card…truly puzzling.
Now to pray MSI will grant me a smooth warranty process. Stock of 5090 has been low as you know. I hope there is a quick resolution.
I thought in the past all the burned connectors were from users not putting the cable in all the way. Not so…
