One of the coolest things about fighting games is seeing new character designs that can help tell the story of how they’ve changed and grown between titles, which is usually a treat to see.

But what happens when those new fighter designs are a marked step down from what came before?

Well, our friend MrTopTenList recently dropped his latest breakdown of the top 10 worst fighting game redesigns.

There’s no real way to objectively put something like that together of course, so these are his personal rankings on the matter.

First up on the list is Tekken 8’s Paul Phoenix, and that was certainly one that didn’t go over too well with the fans — but at least the traditional tall Paul hair was still included in his alternate costumes.

Number nine goes to Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves with Billy Kane, however, he explains that while the design itself isn’t bad, you’d just have a hard time telling it actually is Billy without seeing his staff.

It’ll probably come as little surprise that Ken’s Street Fighter 5 appearance is on there too, but we won’t reveal where he shows up on the list.

Personally, I always liked Ken’s SF5 look on paper… It just didn’t translate well at all to the game with his freaky face and banana hair.

We aren’t going to spoil the rest of the characters either, however, you can expect to see some King of Fighters, Guilty Gear, Killer Instinct, Injustice, Marvel vs. Capcom, Mortal Kombat and more make the cut.

If you haven’t before, we also recommend taking a look at MrTopTenList’s top 10 best fighting game character redesigns he ranked previously.
