INDOOR TRACK

Mascoma’s Kondi third at New Englands

Mascoma High senior Georgia Kondi set a new school record in the shot put and finished third at the New England Indoor Track and Field Championship at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston on Saturday.

Kondi’s coach, Rick Currier said she hit 40 feet 5 inches with her final throw of the day, breaking her previous personal best of 39-11½ inches. Her new record moved her from fifth place to third in the field, which began with 31 competitors. Next up for Kondi is the New Balance Nationals on March 15 in Boston.

Barnaby Diehn of Mascoma also had a personal best and a new Mascoma school record in the shot put with a throw of 53-11¾. He finished seventh, one spot short of the podium.

Also from the Upper Valley, Aria Deeb of Hanover was 15th among 24 runners in the one-mile race.
