LAKE CHARLES—McNeese women’s basketball (25-4, 19-1 SLC), coming off a come from behind 69-59 win at Nicholls on Thursday, will finish its final Southland road trip with a 2 p.m. game at UNO (3-25, 3-17 SLC) on Saturday. The game will stream on ESPN+.

The Cowgirls will look to tie the school record for most wins in a season and will look to become the first school to win 20 conference games in conference history.  The Cowgirls are riding an 18-game winning streak, currently the fourth longest in the NCAA.

McNeese defeated the Privateers 77-41 in Lake Charles on Jan. 24 in the first meeting between the two teams.

Dakota Howard continues to lead McNeese in scoring (12.8 ppg.), rebounds (6.0), and steals (2.8).  Arianna Patton  is averaging 11.2 ppg. and Jalencia Pierre is averaging 10.1 ppg.

UNO has lost its last four games and are coming off a 74-64 home loss against Southeastern on Thursday.  The Privateers are led in scoring by Brialle Washington who is averaging 10.3 ppg.  Lauren Banks and Jayla Kimbrough lead UMO with 5.2 rpg.

The Cowgirls, the regular season champs will be the No. 1 seed in the 2026 Air Force Reserve Southland Conference Championship set for March 9-12 at the Townsley Law Arena.  The Cowgirls received a double bye and will play its first game at 10:30 a.m. on March 11.

McNEESE NOTES

• Clinched the regular season title and the No. 1 seed in the 2026 US Air Force Southland Conference Basketball Championship last Saturday with a 72-55 home win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi

• It’s the third regular season Southland title (1986, 2011, 2026) for McNeese

• Have won a school record 18 SLC games

• Have won 21 of last 23 games

• It’s the first 20-win season since 2016

• A win at UNO would tie the school record for wins in a season at 26

• McNeese could become the first school to win 20 SLC games in conference history with a win at UNO

• Are on a program best 18 game winning streak, currently the fourth current longest winning streak in the NCAA this season.

• Head coach Ayla Guzzardo is the first McNeese head coach to win 22 games in her first season as head coach
