I'm trying to squeeze some more performance out of my r5 7500x3d. The recommended method online seems to be using PBO and CO to undervolt the cpu by some amount, which then frees up thermal and power headroom for higher clocks.

My motherboard is an Asus B850I-gaming wifi and I'm also running a radeon 9070xt.

I'm testing my performance by running the cyberpunk benchmark with Mangohud overlay which, amongst other things, shows my CPU clock speed, power draw and temps.

At stock it maintains roughly 4.55GHz, 40W and 55C.

I tried undervolting it via the Asus BIOS by going into the advanced settings->AMD overclock->PBO and setting it to andvanced, which then reveals CO, which I then go into and set a negative undervolt of 15.

This had no effect when running the cyberpunk benchmark. Still 4.55GHz, 40W and 55C.

Am I missing something?

EDIT: wrt this chip being locked down, here's a video where a reviewer claimed to be able to overclock it:
