Alex is the next character coming to Street Fighter 6. He’s set to join on March 17, 2026.
Alongside Alex’s release, there will be a major balance patch consisting of changes for everyone. This is seemingly being done to address the community dissatisfaction with regards to the frequency and depth of changes of previous balance updates, as acknowledged by Capcom themselves.
BST|Daigo Umehara recently had some thoughts to share regarding the upcoming patch. Of course, he was quick to point out that Mai Shiranui was still in desperate need of nerfs.
“If they leave Mai as is, there’ll be riots,” simply declared Daigo. “No joke. I think enough is enough.”
Daigo also talked about potentially dropping Akuma depending on what sort of changes we’ll get with the update. It would seem that Daigo is hoping for Akuma buffs, but is prepared to switch to another character if these sort of changes don’t happen.
“I mean, I’ll keep doing my best for the next month — month and a half, rather. But frankly, Akuma’s reached his limit,” stated Daigo.
“Would you quit Akuma, depending on the patch?” asked one of Daigo’s viewers.
“Oh, for sure. I sure would. It’s a little too much of a strain. Plus, there are just other characters I want to try. Like Sagat seems pretty interesting,” responded Daigo.
From there, Daigo also speculated on which characters will receive buffs. Daigo briefly considered buffs for E. Honda, but mentioned that he’s not even entirely sure why Capcom put E. Honda in the game in the first place as his design doesn’t really mesh well with modern fighting games.
He also considered possibly buffing characters like Zangief, Ken, Cammy and Luke. He noted that these fighters feel a little too weak right now.
