Baker’s boys and girls basketball teams, the regular season champions in the Greater Oregon League, will host the league playoff championship games Saturday, Feb. 28.

The girls game will start at 4 p.m., the boys contest at 6 p.m.

No season passes, of any kind, will be valid for the games. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for students, including BHS students, and seniors 65 and older.

All ticket profits help pay for district events, trophies, scholarships and more, Simon Lamson, BHS athletics and activities director, said.

Both Baker teams have clinched berths in the Class 4A state playoffs, which will be March 6 for boys and March 7 for girls.

With wins Saturday, the Bulldogs can ensure home playoff games. The Baker girls could potentially have a home game even with a loss Saturday due to their high ranking — second as of Monday, Feb. 23.

Baker’s opponents will be determined by playoff games this week.

For both boys and girls, La Grande finished second, Pendleton third and Ontario fourth in the regular season.

Ontario’s boys and girls will play at Pendleton on Tuesday, Feb. 24. The winners will play at La Grande later in the week. The two winners at La Grande will then travel to Baker for Saturday’s championship games.

Class 4A has only one state playoff round. The winners of the 16 games advance to the state tournament March 12-14 at Forest Grove High School.

Boys

Baker, which won the regular season league title outright with a 5-1 record, is 12-11 overall and ranked 12th in the state.

Baker swept Ontario and La Grande in the regular season, and split two games with Pendleton.

Baker is the two-time defending Class 4A state champion.

Girls

Baker tied with La Grande with 5-1 records in league games. The teams split their two games, with each team winning on its home court, but Baker won the tiebreaker by virtue of total points in the two games — 119 to La Grande’s 104.

Baker, 20-4 0verall, has wins over top-ranked Stayton (57-56 in overtime on Dec. 31 at Stayton), third-ranked Seaside (52-43 on Dec. 3; the Seagulls won the rematch, 59-41 on Dec. 2o), and fourth-ranked Marist Catholic (55-52 on Jan. 24).

Baker, which won state titles in 2019 and 2023, finished third in the 2025 state tournament.
