Wolverine, Magik and Danger were recently revealed to be part of the Unbreakable X-Men team headed by Storm in Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. Based on the now removed excerpt from the Steam store page, we suspect that the game will launch with a base roster of 20 characters.
Since the game has been announced, Arc System Works and Sony has held two closed betas. As it turns out, the developers are taking participate feedback into account as seen with changes spotted in the latest trailer.
One of the most highly complained about mechanics of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is how assists works during combos and block strings. Previously, characters only performed a universal action when called as an assist in this situation.
Many fans felt that this cut down on character identity, which in turn limited players on the ability to express themselves within the game. This hampered on the team building aspect of the game as well since it felt like many of the fighters pretty much just did the same things depending on the situation.
As seen in the trailer, combatants will now perform their normal assists that they use in neutral during block strings, and likely combos as well. Essentially, it’s just like how it works in numerous Marvel vs. Capcom titles.
✅ NEUTRAL ASSISTS ARE NOW USABLE DURING COMBOS AND BLOCK STRINGS IN MARVEL TOKON???
PlayStation dropped a sorta “extended” look at the new character Behind The Scene portion of the State of Play.
In it we can see Danger applying pressure in the corner, during which it’s now… pic.twitter.com/tWhbZuUqxx

Additionally, calling an assist while airborne will seemingly no longer perform the airborne versions of attacks. Instead, they’ll perform their designated actions while grounded. Again, this is just like how we know it in Marvel vs. Capcom.
This change will greatly improve mix up potential. While jumping, a player can keep an opponent grounded thanks to a grounded assist call.
Previously in Tokon when calling an assist while in mid air you would get an aerial assist but it seems that has now changed. Iron Man does his ground Unibeam assist here, despite Danger calling him from mid air. pic.twitter.com/uevNBu7bsS

Finally, we’ve also seen that the combo limits have been eased. With this, combos will end up feeling less static, enabling more creativity for the players.
Okay, so: I was watching the Tokon footage closely and I noticed the Combo Limit got singificantly buffed.
It went from 13 hits total (10/3) to 20 hits total (15/5)
In addition, because of this change assists now remove 4 hits instead of 2.

Main things I noticed in the Marvel Tokon trailer
– You can call your normal assists while airborne
– Can call normal assist mid combo instead of the generic “combo” assist (Exclusive to EX moves?)
– Tag faster now? (Frame counted about 15 frames faster)
Lots of good changes! pic.twitter.com/Di1RBB1jpf

Following the conclusion of both closed beta periods for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls that have taken place thus far, the developers sent out feedback forms in order to gain some insight on what to do with the game. Evidently, fans have been responding accordingly.
In response to the trailer itself, the Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls director, Kazuto Sekine, has confirmed just how much of an impact those feedback forms have had on the game’s development.
“Here’s a trailer that also includes a message saying that, thanks to feedback from the closed beta test, we’ve tried to pack in as many new elements as possible into the gameplay video portion,” said Sekine according to X’s translation feature.
