I had issues with undervolting before as -5 on all cores was immediately unstable on AIDA64 and I still haven't gone around trying to undervolt per core yet.

However, I decided to try an easier route by disabling the performance boost mode on Power Options in order to achieve lower temps on my 9800X3D and it worked amazingly well. Personally, I have not noticed any dips in performance when playing Helldivers 2, while keeping the temps on low 60s.

I did ran a quick benchmark on Time Spy for the CPU test and these were the scores:
Disabled: 13776

Efficient aggressive: 14904

Efficient aggressive at guaranteed: 15 007

So, technically, I do seem to lose some performance on disabled, but is it really noticeable in games?

For context, this option is hidden by default, but can be enabled by the following steps:

  1. From an elevated command prompt run: powercfg.exe -attributes sub_processor perfboostmode -attrib_hide
  2. This adds a new option to your power plans (powercfg.cpl) under "processor power management" > "Processor performance boost mode" – set this to "Disabled"
  3. If this elevates GPU temperatures, lower your GPU usage by capping GPU temperature and max power with for example MSI Afterburner program
