The top five is actually comprised of only three games thanks to different Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch versions. However, once again, it’s Mario Kart World taking the top spot. The start of the year tends to be slow, so there aren’t new releases here.

As we typically see, Nintendo was the top publisher for retail sales in Japan last month. The company sold 561,000 copies. Konami was in second at 166,000, followed by The Pokemon Company with 148,000.
On the hardware front, you won’t be surprised to hear that Nintendo Switch 2 was the frontrunner at 453,433 units sold. This is down from 815,632 units in December, but that was to be expected as we’re past the holiday season. Worth noting, Nintendo Switch 2 is now at over four million units sold in Japan. Nintendo Switch threw in another 91,109 units sold.
