Stat Leaders Around the BIG EAST
* UConn’s Sarah Strong leads the league in scoring (19.21), field-goal percentage (.601), and steals per game (3.38), along with a league-high 11 20-point performances. Strong ranks 10th nationally in field-goal percentage, 25th in total points (461), and eighth in steals (81).
* Marquette’s Halle Vice tops the BIG EAST in rebounds per game (9.04) and double-doubles (10). Teammate Skylar Forbes is first in the league with 1.91 blocks per game.
* Seton Hall’s Savannah Catalon leads the BIG EAST in free-throw percentage (.885), which ranks 22nd in the NCAA.
* UConn and St. John’s are tied for the league lead with 4.92 blocks per game, followed closely by Marquette at 4.88.

This Week in BIG EAST Play

On Tuesday, February 10, St. John’s travels to DePaul for a 7 p.m. tip on ESPN+. Wednesday night features four games, starting with Villanova at Xavier at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN+. UConn hosts Creighton on Peacock, while Butler heads to Providence on ESPN+, both at 7 p.m. Marquette welcomes Seton Hall for a 7:30 p.m. start on ESPN+. The weekend schedule includes five contests spread across Saturday and Sunday. 

 

BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Weekly Awards (2.9)

UConn graduate student guard Azzi Fudd collected her third BIG EAST Player of the Week honor of the season. Fudd averaged 21.0 points on a .516/.545/.800 shooting split, to go with 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals in two wins over DePaul and Butler. Creighton freshman forward Ava Zediker earned her second BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. Zediker averaged 18.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists to lift the Bluejays to victories over Georgetown (64-62) and Marquette (80-74). 

BIG EAST to Provide Public Availability Reports for Men’s and Women’s Basketball

Beginning in the 2025-26 season, the BIG EAST Conference will provide public reports on the availability of student-athletes in conference games for men’s and women’s basketball. BIG EAST schools will be required to submit these reports three hours before the scheduled tipoff. Under this reporting system, players will be designated as “questionable” or “out.” Availability reports will be posted on the BIG EAST website throughout the 2025-26 season. Women’s Basketball Availability Reports
