Looking for your next gaming laptop upgrade, but aren’t sure where to look with the ongoing RAM and storage crisis? Right now, I’ve spotted this Asus ROG Strix G16 at Walmart for $1,299.99 ($1,749.99).
At that price, the Strix G16 is a much more reasonable buy as a mid-range gaming laptop. The RTX 5070 in particular is worth highlighting as a mid-range GPU in Nvidia’s latest RTX 50 series.

We haven’t tested this particular ROG Strix G16 model, but Asus has regularly released some of the best gaming laptops we’ve tried.
The latest ROG Strix G16 features a 165Hz/3ms FHD+ display, much higher than budget and mid-range gaming laptops that stop between 60Hz and 120Hz. In addition to the RTX 5070, it runs on an AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX processor with 16GB RAM and includes 1TB of SSD storage.
That’s plenty to suggest that it’ll still perform well under pressure and have enough space to store a large library of games. It also includes three months of PC Game Pass for free.
