Ryzen 7 5700 processor
The Ryzen 7 5700 is an AM4 processor that sometimes gets confused with the more powerful 7 5700X; however, there are some important distinctions between the two, such as the 5700’s smaller 16MB L3 cache, for example. It’s a cost-effective option that has a decent core and thread count, coming in at 8 and 16, 4.6GHz boost clock speed, and low 65W TDP, for easy cooling and better efficiency. For the RTX 5060, it’s going to be fine for 1080p gaming at decent framerates with low latency, and it’s not a bad option for multitasking, content creation, and streaming, either thanks to its core and thread count.
RTX 5060 graphics card
One of the best graphics cards you can but if you’re looking to save some cash, but still want to experience everything Nvidia’s new Blackwell lineup has to offer. While the RTX 5050 may be even more tempting from a cost perspective, it actually doesn’t have GDDR7 VRAM like the rest of the 50-series, opting for an improved version of GDDR6 instead. The RTX 5060 has it beat there, coming with 8GB of newer, faster memory, alongside 4th-gen ray tracing cores and 5th gen tensor cores. It’s a good card for 1080p, and a touch of 1440p also, however, you’ll want to leverage MFG to bolster performance at this resolution.
Storage and RAM
A very modest offering here, but not bad for those who only really need something for gaming and don’t really care too much about having the very latest RAM. It has 16GB of DDR4 here, which is enough to keep things feeling responsive, but won’t hold a candle to DDR5. For gaming, it’ll be fine, but if you’re planning on doing some serious multitasking or running very demanding apps, or even openworld games, you may want to consider alternatives. On top of this, it has a 1TB SSD, which is fine for most in all honesty, but better for those planning on storing a handful of games, rather than an extensive library.
Things to consider
It’s hard to argue with the price, but considering I just came across an RTX 5060 Ti 16GB model for just under $1,400, it does pose the question of whether it’s worth upping the budget a touch, and going for something more powerful for 1080p, 1440p, and creative work. Another good option to explore could be the RX 9060 XT 8GB and 16GB variants, which both have an excellent price-to-performance ratio. And, as mentioned, the RTX 5050 is also a very cost-effective option worth looking at, especially as prebuilds can drop under $900 when discounted.
