Street Fighter 6 fans have been hungry for new content for months now, and they’ll seemingly be waiting a while longer to receive the next substantial update.

Although Alex is on the way as the third Season 3 DLC character, there’s been some talk floating around lately about who will be showing up in Street Fighter 6 Season 4.

If you’ve been on social media the past few days, there’s a chance you may have stumbled upon a supposed “leak” containing the Season 4 DLC lineup for Street Fighter 6.

But just like every alleged rumor, leak or basically anything you read online, you shouldn’t really take it at face value.

This latest rumor appears to have originally gained attention on a particular Reddit thread and spread from there.

For those curious about who those alleged fighters are, here’s your spoiler warning in case of the off chance that it ends up being true.

The names of the characters being tossed around are Vega, Makoto, Menat and Q.

This list started to gain traction on places like ResetEra and then getting coverage on sites like Twisted Voxel, but some issues started to quickly arise.

New Leak Claims to Reveal Full Street Fighter 6 Season 4 Roster https://t.co/tm8r8vcC8H

Said Reddit thread was removed by moderators for apparently lacking a sufficient source, and the poster is now disavowing their previous statements.

“This is me debunking the leak that I previously posted because I did more research and found out it was probably fake and because journalists started reporting on it so I wanted to set the record straight,” wrote user Sensitive-Tip-8177 in a follow-up debunking thread.

It seems the poster originally believed the information came from a “credible leaker” who had previously gotten other Street Fighter DLC characters correct, but that wasn’t the case after all.

So where did these names come from then?

Well as far as we can tell, those four characters were first brought up by a different Reddit user eight months ago and mentioned by them a few times since though we’re not seeing any evidence of them claiming to have insider information in the past.

Some other Reddit commenters are still claiming those are the names they’ve been hearing elsewhere, so take that as you will — but it’s just seemingly a game of internet telephone of hearing something from a guy who heard something from another guy.

While we’re not putting much stock in this “leak”, none of the characters would be outlandish to see in Season 4.

Three out of the four fighters did end up in the top 10 of our latest Season 4 DLC character popularity poll for Street Fighter 6 from a few months back.

Makoto was actually the number one pick by our readers followed by Vega at 7 and Menat at 9 while Q was a bit lower at 19.

The popular karate girl is one of the few big Street Fighter 3 that hasn’t been seen in the last two entries (yet) while Vega is one of the few classic bosses that haven’t made their way to SF6 yet following M. Bison and Sagat, who were both previously DLC characters too.

Menat and Q could help carry forward some of the story beats set up at the end of Street Fighter 5, which we recently discussed in our case for Rose’s possible return for Street Fighter 6.

So we wouldn’t be surprised to see a few of these picks make their way into Season 4 even if we think this leak is probably bogus.

That’s not to say the game hasn’t seen things like this happen before, however, since the full launch and Year 1 DLC roster for Street Fighter 6 leaked and Capcom accidentally leaked a costume early last year among a few other instances.

It’s just this one doesn’t seem to hold any water or deeper substance to actually back up the claims.

Since Capcom has been skipping doing reveals at their major tournaments, they probably won’t be showing off the new characters at Capcom Cup 12 in March.

Instead, players will more than likely need to wait until around June again to see the Season 4 DLC officially announced.

So everyone shall have to wait another four or five months know who is coming after Ingrid.
