If you plan on attending a Rutgers men’s basketball game in the near future, you may have noticed an increase in ticket prices.
So what’s behind the sudden demand for seats?
The global anime and manga sensation ONE PIECE.
That’s right, ONE PIECE, the Pop Culture phenomenon that only further expanded in popularity thanks to the Netflix adaptation, is coming to a basketball court near you.
Rutgers is one of five teams taking part in the ONE PIECE College Basketball US Voyage, which runs from Jan. 23 through March 4.
The Scarlet Knights’ next three home games at Jersey Mike’s Arena are part of the tour and tickets are selling fast. A special, ONE PIECE halftime show is scheduled for Friday night’s Big Ten Showdown against Indiana.
Each halftime show is set to be a collaboration between ONE PIECE, university bands and cheer teams performing the ONE PIECE opening theme song “We Are!”
Exclusive ONE PIECE t-shirts will also be thrown during halftime shows.
Festivities will also take place at Rutgers on Tuesday, Jan. 27, against Michigan State and Saturday, Feb. 7, against Nebraska. Friday is the only Rutgers game that will feature a ONE PIECE halftime show.
Fans at every game will receive an exclusive, collab poster and a ONE PIECE card game promotion card.
