TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Central Catholic High School will use two of their upcoming varsity basketball games to support a local cancer organization.

CCHS will host Colton Strong Kids Night at the girls’ basketball game against St. Ursula Academy on Feb. 2 and at the boys’ basketball game vs. Clay High School on Feb. 3.

At the games, event organizers will sell raffle tickets for $2 each to win several prize baskets, all donated by faculty and staff. They will also hold a 50/50 raffle and collect gift cards for Amazon, DoorDash, Kroger and other grocery stores, gas cards and monetary donations.

Money collected from the raffle, 50/50 and individual donations will go to Colton Kids Strong, a local non-profit dedicated to supporting area children who are fighting pediatric cancer. Colton Strong Kids provides comprehensive grants, programs and assistance initiatives to support to families navigating this difficult period with resilience and optimism.

The organization was founded by former CCHS teacher and head girls’ basketball coach, Corri Stanley, and her family after their son Colton was as diagnosed with T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma just weeks after his 4th birthday. This past November, Colton rang the bell marking the end of his cancer treatment.

“Central Catholic is thrilled to expand our efforts to support Colton Strong Kids by dedicating the basketball games on Feb. 2 and 3 to the organization we adore,” said Mallory Lenhart, a CCHS social studies teacher and Sideline Spirit moderator. “This year’s event is even sweeter as we celebrate the end of Colton’s treatment! Though the Stanleys have conquered their fight, there are still many other families who benefit from the care and hope that Colton Strong Kids provides. The Stanley family is an inspiration to all of us, and we hope that the strong communities of Central Catholic, St. Ursula and Clay High School feel compelled to donate gift cards and purchase raffle and 50/50 tickets to show their love to the families that continue to bravely battle pediatric cancer.”

The varsity games are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Monday and 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday in the CCHS Sullivan Center. To learn more about the Colton Strong Kids organization or to donate, visit https://coltonstrongkids.org/.
