Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising was released about two to three years after Granblue Fantasy: Versus. Ilsa was recently showcased as the next DLC character for Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising as she is set to be released on February 10, 2026.
Though Cygames has been focusing their attention on updating Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising, they’ve been maintaining the servers for Granblue Fantasy: Versus for those that wish to play the original version of the game instead. However, Cygames recently announced their intention to downscale and restrict online features for Granblue Fantasy: Versus in the near future.
Starting on April 20, 2026, Cygames will be scaling back Granblue Fantasy: Versus online features. Essentially, the game will permanently function as though it were in maintenance mode.
In other words, the ranked matches, the online lobby and the ability to access serial codes will be unavailable. Other online features will still be available, but in a “limited capacity.”
Of course, most of Granblue Fantasy: Versus’ offline features will still be usable. It should be noted that with the disabling of online features, certain trophies will become impossible to obtain.
Cygames has asserted that they intend to continue supporting Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising despite the announcement to cease online activities with Granblue Fantasy: Versus.
This downscaling process is set to begin on April 20, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. PT / 9:00 p.m. ET.
