I had a 7900xt that served me very well, but because of the AI bubble causing price hikes, I wanted to get an Nvidia card for ray tracing and future proofing. One of my coworkers managed to secure a 5080 FE for MSRP on launch. When the 5090 dropped, he sold his 5080 to our other coworker for the 5090, and that coworker already had a 5070ti. He noticed that the performance difference wasn't big enough to warrant the price, and I just so happened to tell them I wanted a 5080 when he sprung it on me that he'd sell it to me for $900. I immediately jumped on the offer and I am a happy man!
