this is just a meme obviously, but my educated guess says that all the RAM that the AI slorpos have been hoarding isn't your average g.skill ddr5 32gb 6400MT/s cl30 kit.

It's likely that most, if not all of the RAM capacity that they buy (or reserve) get soldered onto proprietary stuff like purpose-built ECC RAM and onto SOCs (HBM) like the new Rubin supercomputer/gpu AI slop platform from Nvidia.

Therefore, just because the AI bubble bursts, doesn't mean there will be a huge flood of PC gaming ram kits on the used market. Also then, the memory-producing companies like Samsung, HK-Hynix, and Micron won't just refund or buy-back the RAM from Nvidia or smth. They already got the bag. However now, to keep making more bags, they'll have to reallocate the production capacity to normal PC-building ram. I don't see things returning to "normal" overnight.

If When the AI bubble finally bursts, we'll still have to hold out a little bit longer. Fu*k.
