Over the course of my life I’ve built about 5 personal PCs since 2012 and dozens for friends. My first build was a budget phenom 955 with a Radeon 7770 and 8gb of ddr3.

I took a break from gaming for a while, but one of my favorite things about building was the control over aesthetics and being cheaper than a pre-built. Recently I’ve decided to piece together a new rig to get back into it. But the issue is the price of parts have almost taken the fun and art of building a computer. I’m coming close to my build being complete, and while I’m excited, seeing prebuilds with similar specs costing hundreds less than what I’ve currently put in has seriously put a damper on the experience.

To be fair, my last build was a 8700k and 1080ti and that was the best build I ever had, especially because it still handles games at 1080p alright today. But has anyone else almost lost the love of building just due to the prices?

In progress build attached just for the hell of it, should be complete in a day or so.
