After one year in our new Flat, I'm hoping to finally start getting my Office / Battlestation ready. Other rooms were more important at first, and in the summer there are other hobbies that take up time. Over the last few days, I've added an LED strip neatly behind the wood using leftover materials (WS2812, ESP32) and a bit of wood and plastic. I quite like it as a soft background light for the evenings, but the white is of course far from warm white. A suitable 24V COB strip with RGB WW is already on its way.
Next up is a new desk. A wooden top, slightly wider, plus a few shelves or pictures on the wall and some storage space in the bottom left corner.
Unfortunately, the “usable” area is limited by the slope. I can slide up to about the height of the left monitor, but then, at the latest when I stand up, there's a “clunk” between the sloping ceiling and my wooden head. I'm still considering whether to limit myself to 2m wide (that's the “usable width”) and put a shelf on casters in the remaining corner, or whether to just get a 2.5m tabletop and let things disappear under the table. There will be another FlatPanel LED light installed between the beams for when I need to do electronic works.
Welcome for any advice on how to maximise usability there.
