This kind of argument, this whole us vs them thing, it doesn’t exactly work with what people want.
Like yes, modern zombies has flaws. Armor isn’t a great mechanic as it makes the early game easy as hell, weapon rarity upgrades is just another way to inflate the set-up/mid-game progress and lessers the quality of the mystery box, exfil is great but I don’t think it needs to be active until much later, augments are fun to mess around with but some break the game’s balance.
But Classic also has its own flaws. A perk limit is nice though it does funnel players into buying the same 4 perks every match (Jug, Speed, Quick Revive and Double Tap were basically meta all bo3), most late game usually revolve around infinite damage WWs or trap spamming since most bullet weapons kinda fall off, barriers… exist, some maps are just fucking awful to play on due to obnoxious gimmicks (Transzit, Moon, all the Exo Zombie maps. All of them.)
And even then, both also have their flaws. For modern; having pack a punch be 3 tiers is really smart for giving points a purpose late game and letting some weapons keep up in damage, the fact we’re even getting upgradable perks is a good way to create different playstyles and Cold War’s ping/gesture system was really smart for helping people out without comms. Somewhat.
For classic; the aesthetics for most maps are beautiful and still hold up somewhat today, the point system (aside snipers and shotguns) is really unique and allows for weapons to have different purposes (example: a low damage high ammo smg can be used for point gain with your high damage low ammo pistols for damage) and having a dedicated crew grounds the story into it’s world without random sci-fi army people in it.
Idk. When people say “oh, classic is too gimmicky and boring, modern is peak!” or “modern is too overbloated and boring, classic is peak”, I get confused because both should have their fans who can suggest ideas back and forth. Just sticking your entire body to one and going “I will not listen, X needs to be exactly like Y or I’m crying” doesn’t work.
