Though Riot’s DLC is still quite a bit more expensive than Capcom’s

Balancing content and cosmetic releases can be tricky to pull off in a way that keeps players satiated while also not feeling constantly nickle and dimed, which we’re seeing play out across the fighting game spectrum currently.

Riot Games has been on the quicker side of things with 2XKO where they just launched a new costume set today.

2XKO players can now purchase the fitting Snow Moon skins and item bundles in the store.

Said Snow Moon costumes are currently only available for Ahri, Warwick and Illaoi, and they’re still as expensive as ever.

These Legendary skins cost 2,000 KO Points a pop or almost $20, which come with the outfit, one color, an avatar item, a sticker and a profile cover.

If you want the rest of the colors for a particular skin, that will be an additional 1,000 KO Points or $10.

Riot did make a new Snow Moon Megabundle for all three costumes, the colors, bonus colors and a finisher screen for 6,000 KO Points or just under $60.

That is quite the chunk of change, however, it’s the standard 2XKO has been charging for cosmetics like these since launch.

This is more than any other fighter charges for cosmetics, but it’s supposed to be viewed through the lens of 2XKO being a free to play game where you can effectively unlock almost any character you want without paying anything.

It’s still a pretty big ask for players to cough up for cosmetics though.

While Riot has been consistently adding content like this to 2XKO since the early access launched a few months ago, Capcom is on the opposite end of the spectrum.

Street Fighter 6 players had to wait over a year for Outfit 4 DLC to begin trickling out, and they still haven’t been released for more than half of the cast.

We haven’t seen any new costumes in SF6 since Mech Zangief came with C. Viper’s update back in September, so it’s been effectively three full months without a word on when more are coming.

They did just add new battle HUD DLC in the last update this month to make the meters and gauges look like past Street Fighter titles, but that wasn’t enough to satiate the playerbase.

We’ve never really seen a fighting game player group at large demanding to let them spend more money on a title, and it’s something that fans have needed to deal with for a long time now.

It would help if Capcom would communicate their plans and roadmap more effectively (or at all really), but they’ve essentially remained silent beyond DLC character release windows.

Street Fighter 6 is currently looking at potentially a six-month gap between said DLC characters since Alex isn’t coming until Spring 2026, and they haven’t put out anything substantial besides the HUDs since September.

Riot, meanwhile, is gearing up to launch on consoles with Caitlyn in Season 1 in January though we don’t know the exact date yet.

That means 2XKO will have received multiple characters and a bunch of skins in a matter of like three months while Street Fighter 6 players are remaining hungry.

This comparison isn’t exactly apples to apples, however, it goes to show the difference in how these two competing fighting games are being handled.

It’ll be very interesting to see how both company’s support their big titles next year.
