Just picked this game up again after over 10 years for my ps3, and am still blown away by how fun it is and how good Captain Americas animations are, his flips and kicks are super satisfying to execute. The shield combat keeps things fresh, and god did they get the sound design right for the shield, whether its metal on metal when deflecting a bullet or the “WUMP” sound it makes when hitting an enemy, it just scratches an itch in my head.
The game mainly takes place in a compound called Castle Zemo, its similar to arkham asylum in that its broken up sections to make one big map. I never really hear people talk about this game and if they do they lump it in with all of the bad SEGA marvel games that came out around the same time (Iron man 1+2 and Thor), but this game is LEAGUES better than both of those and in my eyes should be considered a worthy Arkham Clone.
Sure the game doesn’t feel as polished as Arkham Asylum, but it’s a damn good time
With the delay of Marvels 1943: Rise of Hydra, I highly suggest anyone that’s itching to play as the blue boy scout or if youre just looking for a fun superhero game to check this game out, you won’t be disappointed.
