A really cool mod that adds Guilty Gear’s I-No to Street Fighter 6 is being worked on by a modder known as Thezippotm. Although Broski doesn’t usually care about mods, this one is of such a high quality that he felt the need to check it out on his YouTube channel.
First off, it’s important to highlight that I-No is effectively replacing A.K.I., meaning that this is effectively just a new skin or costume. It’s not the type of mod that adds a brand new playable character into the game.
However, the really interesting part about this mod is that the author went to the trouble of replacing A.K.I.’s poison effects to be suit I-No’s theme as the “witch of rock n’ roll.” This is what gives this mod that high quality feel to it.
In other words, A.K.I.’s poison puddle, her projectile and her poison whip all now have musical themes to them. Even when the opponent is poisoned, you’ll now see music notes affecting them and their health bar.
The author has even changed the appearance of A.K.I.’s level 2 for this mod. Of course, they’re not entirely sure what to do with level 3, so it’s still the same for now.
Considering that Street Fighter 6 has begun adding third parties to the roster (see SNK’s Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui), we could someday see the addition of Guilty Gear reps thrown into the mix. At the very least, this mod shows how it could actually work out fairly well.
