Parallel 42 has revealed GoFish, a new add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 that brings fishing gameplay to the sim’s Avatar mode. The product lets users explore coastlines, rivers, beaches, and lakes around the world and cast a line directly from within the simulator — no external tools required.

The announcement comes as Parallel 42 continues work on ChasePlane and Flow for MSFS 2024. The team says both products remain in active development, but GoFish became a creative break that evolved into a full release. So don’t fret, both are still coming.

What is GoFish?

GoFish is built natively for MSFS 2024 and integrates into the simulator using the in-sim EFB-style panel. Players can exit aircraft, walk to the water, and cast using on-screen tools. A visible landing indicator shows where a cast will land, and a full fight model manages tension, drag, slack, and line breakage. Parallel 42 also says the experience is particularly immersive in VR.

The system features more than 200 species, with behaviour influenced by real-world biological datasets including OBIS and GBIF. Species availability changes based on factors such as:

Geographic location

Water type (freshwater, saltwater, or brackish)

Season

Time of day

A live “Available at This Location” panel updates automatically, allowing simmers to discover region-appropriate species around the world.

GoFish includes a full suite of fishing gear with multiple line and bait types affecting catch performance. Difficulty modes adjust bite timing and pacing, each maintaining its own catch record.

A built-in history panel records:

Total catches

Unique species

Most-caught fish

Biggest catch by weight/length

Controls, unit types, and bindings can also be customised from within the simulator.

GoFish requires Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Sim Update 4 (Beta). It is now available for Club42 Members to purchase for $20.00 USD. It will be out for all when Sim Update 4 leaves beta and is released to the public. You can read more about the decision for this development within their blog post.
