I recently came across a meme in this sub (2nd image) and right after that I started browsing Amazon. And guess what? The meme came to life in real time.
I found this PC listed with a “-6% off” tag, but the price is actually at its highest point $449.99. Last year’s Black Friday price was around $409, so this current “discount” isn’t even close. It’s literally a price hike disguised as a sale. Found these using Buyhatke chrome extension.
I’m not gonna buy if the discount is fake, but the problem is most people don’t check price history and just see “-6% off” and hit Buy. Posting this so fewer people get tricked by these fake discount tags.
