BST|Daigo Umehara was hoping that Akuma would receive a slight buff to his stamina (to 9,500) as he no longer believed the gap between Akuma and everyone else’s hit points was justified in Street Fighter 6. As this didn’t happen, Daigo instead considered the prospects of switching to a character like C. Viper.

In his latest video, Daigo highlighted how he’s been feeling a little bummed out lately regarding everyone’s impressions of C. Viper. While her defense is unsurprisingly poor, Daigo also feels like her offensive abilities leave a little to be desired.

Regardless, it would seem that Daigo is once again considering switching to another character. Of course, this will all depend on what the next major balance patch brings to the table.

At one point during his stream, Daigo is asked just how strong Akuma would be if he had 10,000 stamina like most of the other characters in Street Fighter 6. While this would ensure that Akuma would be a top tier, Daigo isn’t convinced that he’d be the best character even with his most notable flaw removed from the equation.

“Would Akuma in his current form be the strongest character if they just gave him 10,000 hit points?” asked one of Daigo’s viewers.

“Oh, no, not in his current form,” responded Daigo. “I definitely think Mai is stronger. Even if he had 10K. When you look at it that way, she’s quite terrifying, huh?”

In this scenario, Daigo wouldn’t even rate Akuma as being the second best. According to Daigo, Ed would still be the second best character even if Akuma had 10,000 stamina.

Of the “Shoto” characters, Daigo currently sees Ryu and Terry as the strongest of the bunch. As such, Daigo could potentially see himself switching to Ryu at some point, but it’s worth highlighting that he’s been hinting at this possibility for a long time now.

However, Daigo is adamant that he’d prefer not to switch back to Ken. Before Daigo dedicated himself to playing as Akuma, he was a Ken player in Street Fighter 6, but it seems that Daigo has lost interest in the character since then.

During the video, Daigo also mentions that he’s interested in how Ingrid will be redesigned when she joins the Street Fighter 6 roster. We could potentially see a scenario in which Daigo plays Ingrid if she ends up being a strong enough character.
