Arc System Works is preparing for the second Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls closed beta. Different from the first closed beta, this second test period is set to always be playable from December 5 through December 7, 2025 rather than only being active during scheduled times.

Of course, we’ll also be getting access to Spider-Man and Ghost Rider, alongside Captain America, Iron Man, Storm, Star-Lord, Ms. Marvel and Dr. Doom, who were present in the previous closed beta. This will actually provide players with the opportunity to play in matches where both players are utilizing completely different combatants since it was impossible for there to not be some character overlap before with only six characters in a 4v4 fighting game.

The PlayStation Blog that revealed some information regarding this second closed beta test told us some interesting things about this upcoming test. Not only will it feature two more characters this time around, but the returning fighters will apparently see some adjustments.

“Based on feedback received from the previous closed beta, we’ve implemented numerous improvements, including balance adjustments, performance optimizations, visual enhancements, and user experience upgrades,” said the description in the PlayStation Blog. “More details will be shared as we get closer to the beta test.”

Looking at the six “veterans” from the last play session, this news is most likely to impact Star-Lord. Overall, it felt like Star-Lord might’ve been the strongest due to his amazing set play that was possible thanks to his ability to freeze opponents at the end of combos.

Since combos could become heavily scaled and were even limited outright, it was beneficial for players to instead use Star-Lord to freeze opponents, then go for a 50/50 mix up after they thawed out. As an added benefit, this would also deny opponents the ability to utilize any wake up options.

According to the PlayStation Blog, we’re supposed to have “more details” shared as we get closer to the beta test period that will start on December 5. We’ll just have to see if these details will include documented patch notes.
