The Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection launched a few weeks ago with a wealth of content alongside a number of bugs / issues, but the developers have been patching the game consistently to improve the experience at least.
Digital Eclipse released a new update for the PlayStation version of the Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection that aimed to lower its input lag for the second time, so how does it stack up to the other systems now?
Well, thankfully latency expert Nigel ‘Noodalls’ Woodall works quickly and has already tested the change from the latest patch.
At launch, Noodalls’ initial input lag experiments showed the PlayStation versions of the MK Kollection had significantly more delay than the Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and especially PC.
Originally on PlayStation 5, the classic Mortal Kombat titles clocked in with 101 ms of input lag, which equates to around 6.3 frames.
After Digital Eclipse’s first update, that number dropped to 83.42 ms or 5.21 frames, so while there was an improvement, it was still higher than the rest.
Now Woodall’s latest tests showed the PS5 version even lower at 67.15 ms at the top of the screen or around 4.2 frames.

This does bring its levels down into the more average / acceptable range though still does leave room for improvements.
Compared to the other systems, the PS5 is now basically on par with the Nintendo Switch 2’s 66.25 ms, so the highest amount of latency appears to be on the original Switch at 74 ms or 4.6 frames.
They’re still around just over a frame off from the Xbox, which was tested at 44.2 ms or 2.76 frames.
And unsurprisingly, PC is king on that front when configured currently with Noodalls registering just 18.35 ms or 1.14 frames, and it’s hard to get much lower than that.
It appears that something in Digital Eclipse’s emulators was not playing nice with PlayStation at first, but they have managed to markedly improve that fairly quickly.
We’ll have to see now if there will be more input delay reductions for the PS5 or other systems moving forward or if this is mostly where things will sit now as the developers work on other updates like adding lobbies to the collection.
