Many fans felt disappointed when Cuphead was represented in the form of costume parts for the Mii Fighters rather than as a brand new fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Needless to say, many felt like this was a missed opportunity considering the moveset potential of Cuphead.
In order to right this wrong, it would seem that Starz is currently working on adding Cuphead to the Smash Ultimate roster via modding. Indeed, Cuphead (and Mugman as an alternate costume) has a particularly unique moveset that feels like it would fit right in.
It’s refreshing to note that Cuphead is not just a clone of Mega Man. In fact, none of his normal attacks utilize projectiles, so there’s more to Cuphead than just shooting opponents from various distances.
Evidently, Cuphead and Mugman have picked up a few tricks from some of their previous encounters. Some of their attacks are actually based on moves utilized by some of the bosses they’ve defeated.
As one might expect, there’s a huge emphasis on this character’s neutral special. While holding the special button, Cuphead and Mugman can shoot projectiles while moving. By holding the shield button, they can also aim while standing still.
Using the down special will cause Cuphead and Mugman to switch to popular weapon types that were usable in the games. If Cuphead is able to deal enough damage, he’ll even get the ability to enhance his neutral special with an EX card (once again, just like in the game).
