Chun-Li, like many other Street Fighter characters, is no stranger to crossovers, but she’s just joined a new SNK game for the first time in over 20 years.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves added Chun-Li to their roster as the latest DLC fighter this week, and SNK put a lot of work into referencing her past.

Orpheus recently put together a great new video comparing Chun-Li’s various callbacks to previous games / works next to each other.

Of course he has to start with the revival of the famous Chun-li vs. Mai Shiranui chest bump artwork from SVC: Chaos, which has been turned into a special pre-fight intro between the leading ladies in City of the Wolves — but that’s just scratching the surface.

He also showcases the Capcom vs. SNK 2 intro reference they put into the Chun-Li and Mai animation as well with their updated designs.

As for the actual game itself, we can see that Chun-Li’s regular intro pose is taken from her Street Fighter 6 level 3 Super while her stance changes a bit depending on which costume she’s wearing, just like Ken did before.

Beyond that, they also brought back some of Chun’s moves from Street Fighter 3: Third Strike and Street Fighter 4 including her light kick and overhead.

And obviously she needs to have her signature Street Fighter 2 win poses too, which is still a bit funny to see now as a much more seasoned fighter.

One final thing of interest is the big kick at the end of Chun’s Hidden Gear looks to be referencing a few of her Supers / Hyper Combos in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and Marvel vs. Capcom.

Orpheus had to do his own accurate recreation of Evo Moment #37 between Chun-Li and Ken in their correct costume colors too.

We recommend watching Orpheus’ new Fatal Fury x Street Fighter / Capcom comparison video to see the original vs. the new side-by-side.
