How long would it take you to accurately walk the exact steps that Frodo did in taking the One Ring from the Shire to Mt. Doom in Mordor? According to one Lord of the Rings Online player who actually did it, it’s about a 10-hour stroll if you want to do it right.
A YouTuber known as EVG recorded himself going through the epic, multi-hour journey as he stitches together scenes and quotes from the books. He told PC Gamer that he took about five hours to scout the route he wanted to use and then spent months filming and editing the journey over the course of 2025. As of the writing of this post, the video has over 514,000 views.
“Lord of the Rings Online is the closest one can get to experiencing Tolkien’s realm the way countless works of art, games, music and entertainment have attempted over the past half-century,” he said.
