One of The Outer Worlds 2’s Flaws is so damaging that the game actively warns you against using it on your first playthrough, which is advice that some players clearly aren’t taking.
Without a doubt, one of the biggest strengths of The Outer Worlds 2 is how much emphasis it puts on actual roleplaying and creating a character that’s unique to you. The best way it does this is with its Flaws system, which randomly pop up based on your actions and give you both a positive and a negative attribute that permanently affects your playthrough.
There are a lot of interesting Flaws in The Outer Worlds 2, from the too-real Bad Knees Flaw that can alert enemies to your position when you crouch to the Deluxe Edition exclusive Consumerism Flaw that affects the prices of both buying and selling. There’s one Flaw that’s more deadly than the rest of them, though, and it’s aptly titled Flawed.
You Really Don’t Want To Accept Flawed On Your First Outer World 2 Playthrough
“F**k This I’m Starting Over”
Flawed is the most interesting Flaw in The Outer Worlds 2 as it forces you to accept every single Flaw that comes your way during a playthrough, while also giving you an extra perk point every five levels. That means you’ll either need to be incredibly careful about doing literally too much of anything, or you’re going to be a walking Flaw machine.
As you can imagine, Flawed changes up a playthrough considerably and is the toughest way to experience The Outer Worlds 2. It’s so potentially damaging, in fact, that The Outer Worlds 2 actively warns you against accepting Flawed on your first playthrough as it “drastically changes” your experience.
Although this warning is pretty front and center when Flawed pops up for the first time, it seems that some players missed the memo. Over on The Outer Worlds subreddit, Redditor Realfunkyjunky warned everyone not to accept it on their first playthrough like they did, as they’re only Level 10 and already have eight Flaws, including the particularly dangerous Kleptomaniac.
Since Kleptomaniac automatically makes you steal things no matter where you are, Realfunkyjunky is having an incredibly tough time getting through The Outer Worlds 2 since they keep running out of everywhere. In fact, Flawed is so dangerous that they’ve actively restarted their playthrough.
While this might seem like an incredibly obvious outcome considering The Outer Worlds 2 literally tells you not to do this, the replies show that it’s a funny mistake that a few other players have made as well. Consider this your final warning!
