Can I get through a whole article about Knights Peak and Windup Games’ Hela without saying the word hella? Nope, and I think you’ll forgive me just this once because it is indeed hella cute. You get to be a mouse in this game.

“See the world through the eyes of a brave mouse in Hela, an enchanting 3D co-op adventure game,” the studios say. “Explore breathtaking Scandinavian-inspired landscapes, solve puzzles, and be a force for good in a land where heartwarming storytelling and the beauty of nature intertwine. When a kind witch falls ill, her familiars embark on a journey to save her life. Playing as a tiny, intrepid mouse, you must venture out, gather ingredients, and brew magical potions to restore her strength. […] Hela encourages you to work hand-in-hand to overcome the challenges that lie ahead. Play solo or with friends through local split-screen multiplayer or online co-op as you delve into lush, vibrant vistas together, from rugged mountains trails, through magical forests, to tranquil lakes.”

This week’s announcement comes with a fresh trailer out of the game that explains the premise and gives a look at the Grounded-esque gameplay. And yes, as the pitch explains, it includes a multiplayer co-op component; in the video, you can see several adorable mice working together onscreen – apparently, up to four. The new video is below, and then you can settle in to wait: Hela is expected to launch on PC and console next year.
