This is moreso just a big rant, but looking at these concept arts, and the crazy level of detail in them, just fills me with an intense wanderlust man. All 3 I believe are Cyberpunk Red concept art of Night City. I get 2077 exists, and I love it, don't get me wrong, but I don't know.. I guess it just didn't meet up to my expectations unfortunately. My problem with it mainly lies in the fact that the city doesn't feel that alive, and isn't tall enough, I guess.
When I think of my ideal cyberpunk city, I want huge megastructures that dominate the sky everywhere you go, makes you feel like an ant in the size and scale of it. A city with a real, beating heart, activity everywhere you look and go. NC in 2077 just doesn't do that for me, not good enough. Hopefully they expand on it in Orion though. I think Deus Ex really nails the feeling of roaming a huge, massive city because you're locked into certain districts and whatnot. A cyberpunk game with this style of lighting and the height of the buildings, the combat and customization of 2077 would be absolutely perfect. I guess what I really want is just Night City as it's shown in the concept art of the tabletop games. I know there's a new Blade Runner game being worked on by Annapurna Interactive, but my hopes for that aren't that high.
Is this level of detail possible with current technology, or are we unlikely to see anything on this scale for the next couple decades, or even longer?
